What attracted you to an opportunity with AKA?

AKA’s reputation in the industry as well as the Internal systems and infrastructure. Every consultant at AKA has the necessary resources internally to turn to when they have a question or when they run into a problem. AKA’s vertical focus also attracted me, primarily the fact that the financial services industry is a key focus.

What were you pleasantly surprised to learn about AKA, either in the interview process or when you joined?

All of the great people who work here. I read about it on Glassdoor, but until you meet the people you don’t get a chance to realize it yourself. It is no surprise that I haven’t run into anyone who isn’t helpful or pleasant to work with. The reputation of the people who work at AKA is great.

Can you share a rewarding experience from your time at AKA?

Being able to work with professionals like those on my current project team is so valuable. Having resources like that on the team is great, they are brilliant and that has been very rewarding.

Anything you would like to tell future AKA employees?

I interviewed with other partners but AKA has such a family atmosphere and I love that. You won’t find that in many other companies.

Can you tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

Being on site in Texas, I have learned to share a universal love of TX Whiskey. It is whiskey distilled right in Fort Worth that has a strong hint of vanilla, some say cinnamon. The consultants on the project have learned to love it, we bring it back home with us. TX Whiskey takes donations of old used cowboy boots and they use a piece of leather from the used cowboy boot to create the top of the cork.

Name:

Mark

Title:

Business Development Manager

Start Date:

August 2016

What attracted you to an opportunity with AKA?

After doing my research and having my initial call I was very impressed with the structure on the marketing side with lead generation. I was attracted by the professionalism of the company and saw AKA had a strong reputation in the Dynamics space. I liked that Jack and Alan started with Great Plains and built out a foundation in that area. They built a successful AX practice which shows the breadth of the organization. There are so many technology changes, especially recently with Dynamics 365, but I had the confidence that AKA could embrace that change and best serve their prospects and customers.

What were you pleasantly surprised to learn about AKA, either in the interview process or when you joined?

After spending time with Alan at an event I realized that while other companies talk about their people and how everyone works together as a team, AKA actually does it. AKA is on the same page where everyone is growing together in the same direction and leadership is very transparent with the company.

Can you share a rewarding experience from your time at AKA?

I was recently told I would be supporting the Public Sector vertical for Business Development, which was rewarding to get that additional level of responsibility. Being recognized and being put in a position to be involved is a very positive thing for me.

Anything you would like to tell future AKA employees?

There is a lot to learn about the organization and specifically within AX, but if you ask questions, people will be there to help you be successful. AKA is an organization that can adapt any employee to be successful whether you are right out of college or have more experience. Technology is going to change, but AKA has gone through these changes, grown, thrived and exceeded on how we react with our clients.

Can you tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

I am from the Buffalo area but I lived in Germany for 3 years when I was a child. I was able to learn to ski in the Alps.

What attracted you to an opportunity with AKA?

The write up of the job was right up my alley, I could tell that it was a good fit for me. Talking to Alyssa in Talent Acquisition was a big help, she was a good first person to talk to and gave me a good feeling about the company. I could tell Alyssa was an honest person and it made me want to look at the company more.

What were you pleasantly surprised to learn about AKA, either in the interview process or when you joined?

The fact that Jack and Alan took me to lunch and we spent 2 hours just talking. They were very honest and surprisingly open to some of the ideas I didn’t believe that the general populous thought.

Can you share a rewarding experience from your time at AKA?

Right after I started I was pulled into help 3 different customers that AKA was trying to get on board. I was able to connect with all 3 and have very positive meetings with the clients. Also, the fact that AKA is very autonomous yet you can always ask for help. I ask a number of team members for help and they are always willing to give answers. I appreciate that AKA gave me the opportunity to use my strengths and recognized that I would be able to help even though I was a new employee.

Anything you would like to tell future AKA employees?

There are many companies out there but it comes down to trust. You can trust AKA and what they have to offer; they will always stay true to their employees.

Can you tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

Years ago I broke my back and was told that I would never walk again. That made me focus on my education and keep a positive outlook on life. Every day is a new learning experience, and if I am not learning then I am wasting my day.
