Microsoft Maintains Mobile Momentum
The Convergence 2014 keynote opened with a reflection on the past year’s new releases by CVP of Microsoft Business Solutions – Marketing – Wayne Morris. In the year since Convergence 2013 Microsoft released Windows 8.1 with enhanced web offerings; Xbox One, Surface 2 and updated collaboration tools, Yammer, Skype and Lync.
As for Microsoft Business Solutions, there was the fall release of Dynamics CRM 2013 with a renewed focus on improving personal experiences and client care. Morris also noted Microsoft’s continuing investment in GP 2013 with R2 ‘s new capabilities in managing requisitions and procurement. Dynamics AX 2013 R3 was also showcased with the end to end mobility framework that allows organizations to develop and distribute modern applications for specific scenarios and specific devices that all easily and securely connect with AX. Next up, in the fall, support will be available on Windows Azure infrastructure as a service, offering high data availability and disaster recovery. Microsoft is also working on additional apps and business intelligence (BI) for mobile devices.
Morris then welcomed two Dynamics customers to the stage: The director of CRM with Weight Watchers and the VP of IT from Chobani. Both company’s were featured at Convergence 2013 and this was a rare opportunity to hear about their experiences over the past year.
Weight Watchers took their significant marketing investment in CRM and their huge database in the cloud and have built up their customer service processes on the platform so both customer service and marketing are operated in house. This was quick to adopt and complemented the personal nature of their customer service interactions and has been a huge benefit to agents because weight loss is a very personal issue. They now plan to expand their business to other channels and utilize more social channels to build on these relationships.
Chobani appreciated the ease of deployment for both Dynamics AX and CRM. They have an ever changing environment and were able to deploy and connect to a third party warehouse in less than 40 days. The solution proved flexible enough to add additional warehouses quickly. Dynamics AX provided cohesiveness and insight into their operational processes namely supply chain and inventory contributing to their success and growth over the past year.
