Making a Social Impact: Helping Non-Profits with Case Management Solutions Built on Microsoft Dynamics 365

Recently, AKA Enterprise Solutions won the 2018 Microsoft U.S. Partner for Social Impact Award. We are particularly proud of this achievement because it recognizes a Microsoft partner that has helped accelerate the digital transformation of non-profit organizations through case management and other technology solutions, helping them to become more productive, more innovative, and drive greater societal impact.

Doing well by doing good

Benjamin Franklin is credited with that phrase, which means (roughly), “To achieve social acceptance or financial success as a result of behaving in a benevolent or charitable manner.” We believe that’s what this award represents—but not just for us. Yes, we definitely feel good about supporting organizations that helps others. But the reason we won this award was because of one of these organizations.

Our award submission highlighted LifeWorks, an organization that provides a pathway to self-sufficiency for more than 4,000 youth and families, many of whom are facing life’s most difficult challenges, including homelessness, trauma, and abuse.

Growth spurs on the need for new technology

Every year, LifeWorks’ 17 programs as well as research and advocacy efforts provide support for more than 4,000 youth and families. The organization has three core goals for community’s youth: ending youth homeless (currently LifeWorks shelters or houses more than 140 on any given night); helping youth from foster care or those living in the streets to gain employment; and providing counseling and psychiatric care to foster care youth

As LifeWorks continues to grow and provide more services to more people, it became apparent that they were outgrowing their case management system. Unreliable and unresponsive, the system was a “one-way funnel of data.” They needed a case management solution that would integrate with other critical systems like Microsoft Office 365.

Social services case management, designed for non-profits

LifeWorks chose AKA’s Social Services Case Management for Non-Profit Organizations. This  Cloud-based, integrated client and case management framework is designed to support the full client lifecycle, from request through receipt and follow-up of services. The tools included in this flexible solution are designed to support the case management aspect of social services focused on self-sufficiency in areas of mental health, education, employment, housing, and more.

Backed by the security of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Social Services Case Management for Non-Profit Organizations is transparent and contains reporting functionality to meet all administrative and financial oversight procedures. Additionally, each step can be locked down to suit the unique needs of an organization’s processes. A flexible, all-encompassing framework, Social Services Case Management helps non-profit organizations better meet the needs of the people they serve.

LifeWorks is now able to easily and cost-effectively consolidate and access data from any location in a user-friendly format, enabling them to better support on-the-ground employees interacting with clients on a day-to-day basis so they can effectively manage cases and track progress.
