Digital Trends Worth Watching

There are so many digital advertising options to consider and each could provide a variety of outcomes.  Aaron Taube profiles eight of the popular trends in “The 8 Digital Trends That Will Change The Future Of Advertising,” posted on BusinessInsider.com.

Advertising is constantly evolving and being reinvented as is technology.  Here are some digital advertising trends worth following and considering.

  1. Video:  Taube indicates that U.S. spending on online video ads has increased by 44.5% over the past year and is expected to continue to increase in 2014 according to a report from eMarketer.  Many wireless networks are capable of streaming videos and videos are far more interesting than banner ads.  Advertisers are willing to pay nearly twice as much for a video than a banner ad.
  2. Mobile:  StatCounter indicates that nearly 30% of web traffic comes from mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets.  Mobile ad spending is also up, nearly doubling from 2012 to 2013 and eMarketer predicts continued growth in 2014.
  3. Social media:  Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter are already favored sites for advertising dollars and those social media powerhouses are now looking at television.  YouTube allows Nielson to measure audiences and Twitter promotes tweets that run real-time next to TV ads.

While these and the other digital trends discussed in the article may be worth a try for your business, any advertising and marketing effort requires tracking to determine its success or failure. Spending money on advertising can either lead to new business when it works or could be money better spent if it doesn’t. To figure out the difference, you can use your customer relationship management (CRM) solution to capture the data related to the release of a campaign and the traffic that may result, including leads and sales, so you can decide what works best for your business.

A robust CRM solution can tap into social media sites, profile potential audiences more efficiently, and manage relationships with customers and advertisers.  Business intelligence features can highlight trends so you can identify new opportunities and make more accurate forecasts.  The right CRM solution can also automate the entire sale process, saving time and improving productivity.  Contact AKA Enterprise Solutions for more information about implementing a CRM solution to manage your digital and other advertising activities.
